New Ford Endeavour revealed as Everest Concept

The next-gen Ford Endeavour will be based

on the recently revealed Ford Everest

launch late 2014 or early 2015

The new Ford Everest concept has just come into light, a vehicle on which the new Ford Endeavour will be based when it lands in India next year.

Going by pictures, the new Ford Endeavour does seems to have the potential a beast of an SUV needs to challenge the Toyota Fortuner. The car has shed its old boxy looks for a more modern and futuristic styling.

The Endeavour seems to borrow a lot of design cues from its younger sibling, the Ford EcoSport. The design of the hexagonal grille, with thick slats, and the wraparound tail lamps are all reminiscent of the EcoSport's design philosophy, which is a good thing because the EcoSport is a stunner in itself. The sweptback headlamps with twin lamps look menacing and lend a lot of character to the car. The muscular wheel arches also give an imposing stance to the SUV.

The engines are likely to be a 2.2 litre common-rail diesel producing 152PS of power and a 3-litre diesel for the 4x4 with a choice of manual and automatic transmission. The car will continue to be a 7 seater though there could be less space for third row occupants.

According to Ford's COO, Mark Fields, "This is our vision for a large, seven-seat off-road SUV to allow our customers to take on the world and it was created by our world-class design team here in Australia.”
